Lantern cane candle hidden in a black painted, barrel-shaped metal knob, France, late 19th century. The candle in a tube is pushed upwards by a spiral. On the inside of the pommel engraved "North Makers", on the front a plaque with a crowned coat of arms flanked by two lions, below the coat of arms a band with the inscription "dieu droit", underneath patent, on the side of the lions above No. and 112. The pommel is attached to a black lacquered shaft with a brass ferrule. Knob height 13 cm, total length 91 cm.
